How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in Biogeochemical Dynamics at Florida State University. Below are
instructions for completing the application process. Please follow the directions carefully.
Be aware that when you apply, you are in essence applying to two separate offices: your
specific department and the Florida State University Office of Graduate Admissions. Do not
send materials meant for one to the other.
Each department has different requirements for applying:
Biological Science,
Biomedical Sciences,
Chemistry and Biochemistry,
Geological Sciences, and
Oceanography.
To Apply to the Biogeochemical Dynamics Program:
1. Personal Information Form: Fill this out completely.
If you do not have the results of your tests scores yet, please indicate
when these will be available. Report GPAs on a 4.0 scale.
2. Statement of Interest: State your reasons for choosing our
department and your academic goals here. You may wish to include information
about your academic background and experience.
3. Three Letters of Recommendation: There is no specific form
for these letters; university letterhead is fine.
4. It is strongly recommended that you include with your application to your
department unofficial copies of the offical test results and transcripts
you will be sending to the Office of Graduate Admissions, which will
enable them to evaluate your folder more quickly. Check with the admissions
coordinator in each department for specific application information.
